A few intriguing branches

A Boone brother, the Vanderbilt family and a seventeenth-century jailbreak: promising stories with their unproved links left visible.

The Boone route goes through Daniel’s brother

The recorded family path runs through Squire Boone Jr., Daniel Boone’s brother, rather than descending from Daniel himself. Published accounts corroborate Squire’s marriage to Jane Van Cleave and son Jonathan. Later Boone-to-Keltz generations still need original records, and several inherited dates conflict. Treat this as a candidate recorded connection.

A possible Vanderbilt connection

The recorded Jannetje Vanderbilt branch offers a specific candidate route into the Vanderbilt family and later Cooper branch. The intervening family links are incompletely verified; duplicate parent assignments are not independent lines. The historical families are documented, while the complete connection to our family remains unproved.

Olof Stille’s escape

Peter Stebbins Craig’s 1997 published account describes Olof Stille escaping Penningby Castle in 1638 with an axe, receiving a death sentence and having it commuted to a fine. The inherited route through the Yocum and Stille families is not a certified descent. Specialist research also challenges some nearby Swedish parent assignments, so the historical story and our proposed connection must be assessed separately.
