Two sisters in the local paper
The Cranford Citizen and Chronicle preserves small moments from Carole and Jerrilyn Swantek’s childhood. Carole appears on a second-grade honor roll in April 1950 and a sixth-grade progress honor roll in April 1954. The later list records progress, rather than a ranked academic award. The paper alternates Carol and Carole; the locality and repeated Scout troop support the identification.

A poem for Memorial Day
A June 3, 1954 report names Carole as the pupil who recited How Sleep the Brave in Harding School’s Memorial Day program. She was in Joseph Cusato’s sixth grade. The preceding-Friday wording points to May 28, but that day is inferred. An adjacent account of a New York trip does not establish that she went on it.

Helping another troop, then becoming secretary
In May 1955, Carol of Girl Scout Troop 57 was among six girls helping Troop 56 complete its fire-building requirements. In December she was elected secretary of Troop 57. The original print says Troop 56; an automated transcription’s 51 is a reading error. These are two different contemporary glimpses of her Scout activities.
Jerri at the Harding playground
The July 28, 1955 paper names Jerrilyn among Stanley Bruder’s assistants at the municipal playground beside Harding School. The program offered games, reading, painting and crafts. The report does not assign her particular duties, wages or an adult job. It gives us a summer scene without supplying a complete employment history.
Evidence: E275
A school change still needs its story
A September 1950 classroom column says Carol left the third grade to attend school elsewhere. It gives neither the destination nor the reason. Her later Kenilworth appearances do not justify filling in an imagined move or transfer sequence.

Aunt Carole’s 1976 yearbook portrait
The portrait above is Robin’s aunt Carole Swantek. It is captioned Carole Swantek in Georgian Court’s Courtier 1976, page 170. Alumni entries report a 1976 bachelor’s degree and a 1980 Rutgers master’s degree. A 2008 entry associates the named person with education work at Georgian Court and Caldwell College; the archives report lecturer listings from 1991–2013. These records do not name her parents or sister. Contact details and other alumni entries are omitted.
A possible photograph of their father
The existing photo collection includes John Swantek, identified at left in a 1953 St. Theresa building-fund photograph. His name and Kenilworth setting fit the sisters’ father, but the caption gives no wife, age or family identifier. A separate 1954 report names John on a local cancer-fund committee. Both remain probable name-and-place matches, with family recognition welcome.
A graduation day with Granddad
Robin and her grandfather, John Stephen Swantek, Jr., are pictured together at her aunt Carole Swantek’s college graduation, circa 1976.
